Does your Quicktime screen turn green when you play a video?
When you play a video in Quicktime, does the video screen turn green even though you can hear the audio fine?
Here’s the fix:
1. Open Quicktime
2. Go to EDIT>PREFERENCES>QUICKTIME PREFERENCES
3. Click on the ADVANCED TAB
4. UNCHECK “Enable Direct3D video acceleration”
5. Click OK
6. Restart Quicktime
7. Enjoy!
If that doesn’t work, then do the following:
1. Perform steps 1-3 above and select “Safe Mode” (GDI only)
2. Click OK
3. Restart Quicktime
4. Enjoy!
Thank you. I recently reinstalled XP SP3 and found my QT’s had turned green with audio only. I found a fix elsewhere that said turn off ‘directdraw acceleration’ and left it at that. Your explanation is precise and step by step which I wholly appreciate.
In my case “Safe Mode” worked.
*sobbing uncontrollably* you have no idea how long i have been plagued by the “green screen”! thank you, thank you, thank you! you are an absolute saint. *still sobing*
@Paul You bet. My pleasure.
@Marion Thank you for leaving such a touching comment. I can imagine what you went through can be equated with being temporarily blind for a while, and then getting your vision back. I’m glad I could play a small part in helping you to “get your vision back.” It’s why I do what I do.
It appears that you’ve put a good amount of effort into your article and I want a lot more of these on the web these days. I truly got a kick out of your post. I do not have a bunch to to say in response, I only wanted to register to say special work.
wow, you really saved me tonight…thank you so much!!!!
You bet, Kim! Glad it helped you!
I don’t have “preferences” under my Edit tab?
And when I search the “HELP” tab there is no results for ‘Direct3D’
I have Quicktime 7
I have a bit of a different problem.
sometimes my quick time works fine and other times it shows a green screen ?
i have tried the different fixes above without any luck ? any ideas would be appreciated.
cheers,
It can be frustrating when QuickTime shows a green screen while playing videos, often due to compatibility issues. For parents, the nursery age criterion in Delhi schools typically requires children to be at least 3 years old by March 31st.

If your QuickTime screen turns green, it might be a codec issue or outdated software. Update QuickTime or reinstall it to fix this. For seamless entertainment, try the 96.com app download for fun!
