How to Export Your AOL Address Book into Gmail, Outlook, etc.

Have you been with AOL forever and you finally are making the switch to another Internet and email service? If so, you’re probably like everyone else who makes the switch from AOL in that you have been with them forever, and you don’t want to lose all of your contacts that you have accumulated over the years. Completely understandable. I would be the same way.

Well, here’s how to export your AOL address book into a format that pretty much any other service or email client can import.

  1. Go to http://mail.aol.com
  2. Log into your AOL account that has all of the contacts that you want to export
  3. Click on CONTACTS on the left
  4. Click on TOOLS>EXPORT above the list of email messages
  5. Select CSV file (comma separated value)
  6. Save to your computer (remember where you save it to)
  7. Open up the email service or email client that you want to import your address book into
  8. Import the CSV file that you just exported into the desired address book (check the instructions for that service or client on how to import it)
  9. Done!
